SAC Berghütte in den Walliser Alpen auf 2726 m
The renovation has started, but we will remain open until August 16th.

Hut access: open
Jegihorn via ferrata, routes, and hiking trail: Good conditions
Laggin: WSW ridge, good conditions, but always carry crampons.
Start early and turn back in good time if you are slower than expected. For high-altitude tours, you should generally be back by early afternoon. Unfortunately, accidents due to overestimating one’s abilities occur repeatedly. If you feel unsure, hire a mountain guide.
Laggin South Ridge: Good conditions.
Fletschhorn: New variant! To avoid the rockfall hazard below the breakfast area, we recommend the new variant via the Fletschhorn Glacier. More detailed information is available at the hut.
Weissmies normal route: We currently advise against attempting the normal route. It is very icy and steep, requiring the use of ice screws. Good alpine experience is absolutely essential.
Weissmies North Ridge: Good conditions, descent via the South Ridge.
Tip: From the Weissmieshütte, there are many beautiful alternatives with good conditions: Schwarzmies, Trifthorn, Äusseres Rothorn, Jegigrat,…
Status of the Hohsaas cable cars. As of: 11.07.2026

The Weissmieshütte of the SAC Olten section is located at 2726 m above sea level on a sun terrace above Saas Grund and with its panoramic view of 18 four-thousand-meter peaks it is one of the most beautifully situated mountain huts in the Valais.
It is the starting point for the four-thousanders Weissmies and Lagginhorn, the almost four-thousand-meter Fletschhorn, the sport climbing routes in the Jegihorn south face, the highest fixed rope route in the Alps, the Gsponer Höhenweg as well as numerous ski and snowboard tours.
The hut can easily be reached from the middle station of the Hohsaas cable car in an hour, even for families with children. It is open in summer and in winter.
Guidelines for overnight Guests
• Reserve your place to sleep – no overnight stay without a reservation!
• Bring yourself: a thin hut sleeping bag (blankets are available), pillowcase (60x60cm) if there is already a cover for the pillow on the hut sleeping bag, that is enough.
• We have massively reduced the number of available beds and seats. So we hope that you feel comfortable and safe with us.
